At least 15 people killed and 44 others were injured in a bus collision in Mulibari area of Sadar upazila in Sirajganj on Sunday early morning.
Identity of the deceased and the injured was not known immediately.
Bangabandhu bridge west police station in-charge Helal Uddin said a Bogra-bound bus of Sabbir Hossain Paribahan from Chittagong collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound bus of Azad Paribahan from Syedpur around 5:00am, leaving 12 people killed on the spot including the two drivers of the bus and injuring 47 more.
Among the injured 27 were sent to Sirajganj sadar hospital where three others succumbed to their injuries.
Resident doctor of Sirajgnaj Sadar hospital Faridul Islam confirmed the deaths and said the number might also rise.
Bridge division, fire service along with police is conducting the rescue.
