If you are already self-employed or are thinking of going down that business route then there are a few things you you need to be aware of:

1. Being self-employed means that saving is more important than ever because it may take a while for the money to start coming in. If you are already self-employed your income could drop suddenly or stop altogether.

2. Be prepared to work harder in the early days, becoming self-employed just doesn't happen overnight. It takes months of planning and more work than you ever thought possible.

3. Have a back-up plan. Some people are willing to risk it all and just go for it, I am not one of those people. Personally I say that if you are going to become self-employed then you must have a plan B.
