A flyover which is in construction for years collapsed near Ganesh Talkies in north Calcutta today, killing at least 10 people and leaving scores trapped. Eyewitnesses claim that suddenly the under- construction bridge was collapsing and they watched it come down in about five to six seconds. At first it was thought to be an earthquake as everything was shaking; but soon they came to realization. Police, fire brigade and disaster management personnel have rushed to the accident site and started rescue work. Cranes have been pressed to remove the debris. Rescue operations are still going on.
