Imagine your life twenty years from now. How do like to live your life? Can you imagine the house you are living in? How about the car you are driving? Have you tried doing that before?

Here's a short video showing why we should do this.

Let's Travel Into the Future

In this post, we will have a little mental exercise. We will relax spend a few minutes with our imagination and travel twenty years into the future. We will imagine how we want to live our lives twenty years from now. Of course, we want to live a happy life in the future.

But first...

Before we start, it's best to grab a pen and a notebook to write down what you imagine. Make a cup of hot coffee too if you want.

Visualize Your Dreams In Details

In doing the exercise below, you need to visualize your dreams in details. Imagine that you are living on that time. It's like mentally traveling ahead of time. Imagine the happiness that you will feel, the feel of your car, the comfort of your bed…

In this exercise, we will focus our visualization on the following:

1. Your dreamhouse;
2. Your dream car;
3. Your family;
4. Your health;
5. Your multiple-income stream.

I will give some guide questions to help you visualize each of these. You can add more questions to answer about your house if needed. Then I will share a part of my dream.

Your Dreamhouse

What does your dreamhouse look like? How big is it? What kind of neighborhood do you like? Write the details. Here are some of the question you should ask yourself about your dream house:

1. How big is it? How big is the lot area and how big is the floor area?
2. Where is it located?
3. Where is it facing?
4. How many rooms?
5. Does it have a pool?
6. Do you love to have a garden?

Imagine as mmanydetails as you can. Draw a floor plan even if you can. Imagine the warmth of the morning sun in the morning. Feel the grass on your lawn. Hear your children laugh as the play in and around the house.

Make it big but achievable. In my opinion , though, a bigger house does not necessarily mean a happy home.

 

Visualize your dreamhouse, draw it or have it drawn if you will.

My Dream

We live half a kilometer from the airport. The runway is visible from the second floor of the house. On the balcony of the second floor, facing west, we would enjoy a glimpse of the sunset. A plane is taxiing on the runway preparing to take off. I called my wife and children to watch the plane take off, with the golden hue of the setting sun on the background.

We all enjoy this everytime.

Dream Car

What car do you want to own 20 years from now? Imagine your hand on the wheel. Feel the comfort of your seat as you listen to soft music playing on the radio. Hear the soft rumble of the engine as you drive smoothly on the highway.

1. What brand of car do you want to have?
2. What model?
3. What color?
4. Is it automatic or you prefer manual transmission?
5. What other features do you want in your car?

My Dream

I don't dream of owning a Ferrari or a BMW, I just want a car that could provide safety and comfort to me and my family. In my post My Goals for 2018, I listed Honda CRV as one of my goals.

Family

Who wouldn't want a happy family?

Even if you are not married yet, imagine you and your dream spouse together.

1. How many children do you want to have?
2. How much time do you want to spend with your family everyday?
3. Where do you want them to study?

Imagine this. You spend quality time with your spouse and children everyday. They open up to you like they would to their friends. Once a week you go out on a family date.

• Your send your children to the best school for the course they have chosen. (Not necessarily the most expensive one
• One day, one of them came home and proudly announced, "I'm in the Dean's List again!".
• Every summer you go to a vacation in or out of the country.

Enjoy summer on places of your choice every year.

My Dream.

I guess I have already described my dream above. But for my dream vacation, it's Japan.

Your Health

Not you. You managed your time well when you were your younger. You balanced your work with your family and health. You have a healthy diet ever since.

Your children are in their late teens or early twenties, yet you still jog with them, ride a bike with them. Because even at your forties or fifties or more, you are still fit.

1. What physical activities do you want to do together with your family?
2. Jogging?
3. Bicycle riding?
4. Swimming?

Imagine that 20 years from now you can still ride the bike and go places with your children

Every Sunday morning, we go biking as a family on the beach, catching up to witness the beauty of the sunrise. On week nights, my eldest son, now  a second degree black belt,  is assisting me in teaching Aikido to our students.

It's an activity that we both love to do.

Your Multiple Income Stream

You are not worried about your finances. Why? You have invested in multiple income streams. 

The ebooks that you wrote and published from 20 years ago is generating a daily income of $1,000.00 a day. You have also invested in insurance policies that comes with investment and you are gaining an average growth rate of 10% per year.

You have a small family business that generates more than enough income to cover your monthly expenses.

1. Have you thought already of saving at least 20% of your income already?
2. Have you invested in investment vehicles like insurance (VUL) or in the stock market?
3. Do you want to publish an ebook?

You are not worried about money because you have multiple income streams

My Dream

Again what I have described above are also my dream. Plus…

 

"I checked my email. I got an email from TRC. In that mail, it, suggests sellingg stocks on one of the companies. I checked my stock market on COLFinancial. I gained more than 300% from that said company since I bought my shares four years ago. So I sold them at the suggested price."

I'm a hundred Thousand richer.

Imagine your total investment in the stock market grew 4 to 5 time since you sarted investing.

Take a Look at Your List

Take a break and have a sip of your coffee. Review your list. Imagine yourself in that future. That is your dream. That is the life you want to have 20 years from now.
