Canada declared a recent anti-terror law that will permit anyone suspected of being included in a terror plot to be arrested without charge for up to seven days. The law declared on Friday will also make it an offence for people to call for a terrorist assault, even if they don't make a certain threat, and certify Canada's spy agency to prevent assaults directly in a significant extension of their powers.
Work on the law started in October after a terrorist killed a soldier at Canada's national war memorial and then raided Parliament. The assault in Ottawa came two days after a man, said to be motivated by the Islamic State outfit, ran over two soldiers in a parking lot in Quebec, finishing off one and wounding the other before being shot to death.
