CBS Station Promotion & Marketing: A Look Back
Posted on at
When I look back on the first half of 2010 one thing stands out in particular: the opportunity given to me to showcase my talent at CBS Television. I joined the CBS station Promotion department at a critical and creative time: handling various projects associated with launching the 2010/2011 television season. I routinely updated CBS PromoNet (our service website); produced promotional spots and special presentations, as well as miscellaneous print and online projects. I have assisted in the production of three new show production toolkits which were offered to CBS affiliates in August. These are promotional and commercial in nature; and each are designed for ease of execution on the station side and require universal technical considerations, legal clearances, adherence to the overall marketing strategies of the network and considerable creative input. In addition, I assisted in the development of new animations, designs and copy writing for PromoNet’s new season style and content updates. I produced a new log-in page, banners, web ads, and a new intro animation for the home page of the site. But most importantly, I have participated in multiple staff and department meetings and have developed productive working relationships with freelance artists, freelance producers and web masters. I’ve also gained introductory operational skills on AVID editing system (AVID Nitris DX). “If you can work the AVID, you can work on anything in the business.” It was a great time during which I developed an understanding and appreciation of CBS corporate culture and marketing strategies and philosophies. Starting my career in the entertainment business at CBS is the smartest move I could’ve made. Class act people, and an organization that is committed to being the best. I want to extend my sincerest thanks to: Steve King Jeff Melby Mark Shannon Scott Smith Dan Gallo Armando Nunez Ileene Mittleman DJ Duronslet Jennifer Ford Jill Goerdt Rachel Silver Craig Yakelis CJ Pereira and Cassie Thomas. Thank you to all for opening your arms and hearts and giving this Cuban kid from Miami a chance.
