Subject of the Study
In this study, IV-Yakal, fourth year high school students enrolled at Balian National High School, Balian, Pangil, Laguna SY 2010-2011 will be the subject of the study.
The IV-Yakal students are grouped according to the use of fish bowl technique. The first section will be the group that will undergo the video-assisted instruction method and the second section will undergo the traditional way of teaching.
Research Instrument
The main instrument in gathering the data in this study is the self-made pretest and posttest covering the topics in the video. The said instrument is subjected to face validation.
The researcher utilizes the video entitled “The Law of Sine and Cosine.” The lessons presented were about Law of Sine and Cosine.
Both groups will receive the same topic in Trigonometry. The discussion will be base on the researcher-made lesson plans.
Before the employment of the teaching strategy, pretest will be given and the posttest will be administered after the completion of the lessons of both experimental and controlled group.
The determination of the effectiveness of the teaching strategies is by comparing the pretest and the posttest. The pretest is use to determine the baseline level of the students before the treatment is conducted. The posttest is design to measure the students’ performance after the treatment. The tests consist of thirty (30) items based on the exercises presented during the lesson. The pretest is the same as the posttest, and the allotted time. The posttest will be conducted immediately after the treatment to ensure no teachers interaction ant prevent comparing of notes of participants from different strategies.
