London has come and gone! For about six months, the buzz of the Olympic movement was still resonating in the air. Soon after, for most people involved, it is a time to reevaluate priorities, set new goals, change direction, establish a new foundation or build on an existing empire leading into the next quadrennium.
After a little down time and reflection, I started building my team from scratch. First was to eliminate, ignore, or bypass those people that are negative forces in my life. Narrowing the pool to bare bones was super hard for me considering I'm a habitual people pleaser. It's true...not everyone will be a Leigh Jaynes fan, content on being haters, or simply can't see the value in my efforts to raise the level of promotion in Women's Wrestling. So many others do and that is who we have behind us now. Thank the LORD! Now that I have a strong team, we started building.
My goal for Women's Wrestling is to generate more revenue and to increase our viewership through marketing. With the help of other talented visionaries, like free-lance advertising specialist Mary Florence Baxter, we have been able to move forward with my brand, Chick Wrestler. This year our campaigns include targeting the local wrestling community through the Pike's Peak Wrestling League each weekend, constructing new women's specific wrestling gear through Brute Athletic, a correspondence contract through Takedown Media, professional images with sport photographer Matt Hernandez Creative, an internship at USA Wrestling Media and my personal favorite...advertising with big named companies like Worldwide Sports Supply.
On top of that, we will be working to revise the websites and creating new high quality posters to sell with 100% of the proceeds going to the development of Olympic Women's Freestyle.
We can change the way the world views our sport. Though we are local this year. Our four year plan is to be global. Now is the time...when the future of our sport is at stake. We mustn't hold back. I don't know about you, but I plan to prepare for the 2016 Games in Rio with long Golden hair, a fierce tan, a smokin' body, and a new focus on dominating the field!
