Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is coming to Dhaka on a three-day official visit on Dec 27.
Officials say both countries would review the progress on MoUs, agreements and Letters of Exchange signed during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Beijing visit in June this year.
The foreign minister is likely to raise the issue of Sonadia deep sea port, which Beijing wants to construct but for which other competitors have emerged.
Yi will also discuss with Bangladesh foreign minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali about joint celebrations of 40 years of bilateral ties next year.
He will also meet President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during his visit.
China wished to take its relations with Bangladesh to a new high through a series of high-profile visits, Li JHun, who was Chinese ambassdor until recently had said.
China, along with India and Russia, backed the controversial Jan 5 national elections that returned the ruling Awami League to power for a second consecutive term.
The US found the election “not credible”.
Following the election, Hasina visited China and managed Beijing’s promise for aiding Bangladesh’s infra-structure development.
But several of these projects have reportedly hit road blocks on a variety of issues like interest rates.
Hasina has strongly backed the Beijing-sponsored BCIM economic corridor because she sees it as a huge boost for Bangladesh's growth.
People-to-people exchanges between the countries had crossed 70,000 last year.
The two-way trade soared to over $ 10 billion, though heavily tilted in China's favour.
During its latest phase of reforms, China is looking to invest an additional $ 500 billion in other countries, importing goods over $ 10 trillion, and sending 400 million tourists abroad over the next five years.
Li Jun had earlier said as a neighbour “Bangladesh should have a good share of it”.
Chinese investors are looking for new markets for investments with the rising labour costs in their own country.
Bangladesh has proposed a special economic zone for China.
