Cinemagraphs!

First - I'm SO thrilled to be featured by Film Annex on their front page!  Thank you guys!

Since my last post I've had to make some changes in my filming plans.  I shoot almost exclusively outdoors and well, it doesn't look like it's going to snow and allow me to do the Snow Maiden film I had wanted to this winter.  And I don't yet have the budget to "make it snow".  So, on to Plan B.  I've recently discovered "cinemagraphs" (have you seen these?) and would love to use one in my next experimental film.  I love the side by side contrast of motion and stillness.  Some use the effects better than others.  The best one I've seen is a photo of a girl on a swing - she is frozen high up in the air, yet the empty swing next to her moves back and forth.  That's a wonderful statement on the concept of cinemagraphs.  So I'd like to take that idea and translate into a story.  My creative windmills are turning and I hope to have this idea filmed and edited within the next month.  In between my more major (traditional) film work, I like to run out with my little camera - and try new things.  It will lead to ideas I'll use for my larger work.  And I'm excited to share all of those with you.  And in turn, I'd love to know what concepts your experimenting with - drop me a line and let me know!

Cheers, Lisa
