Cisco Academy has been active in Afghanistan since 2001 as the Local Academy in the Computer Science Department in Kabul University. After the increase of interest, effort, and success of the students and the professors, the Academy became the Regional Academy. Now Cisco Academy has one Regional and 8 local centers in Afghanistan. One of these local centers is located in the ministry of women in order to inform young girls about how to maintain a good income in their future life.
Kabul University is mainly considered as Regional Academy and it trains all other Cisco Trainers of local Academies. Cisco provides trainers for the regional Academy who have been trained in Egypt, Lebanon, Dubai, and Pakistan. Cisco was added to the curriculum of computer Science of Kabul University, Education University, and Institute of ICT, where they teach students subjects like Wireless, CCNA, IT, and Network Security.
The Academy, from 2001 till 2008, provided training courses for 1108 students of which 482 were women. This helped the students who graduated from the University to easily find jobs in the markets. Young Afghan students in universities are happy with the cisco curriculum as it helps them to increase their knowledge and have income after graduation.
Recently, Film Annex and Citadel joined forces to provide a similar level of tools and services to High Schools in Herat and contribute to the Educational system of Afghanistan by building internet classrooms in schools for over 160,000 children. Film Annex is fully funding the building of these internet classrooms. The initial step was to build the first internet classroom in Baqnazargah school on April 1st, and we started filming of our progress.
Film Annex's Founder/President, Mr. Francesco Rulli is interested to increase the number of children who can benefit from global connectivity and education in Afghanistan.
