Converting AVI to DVD Using Video Converter Software

Posted on at

I know it could be frustrating to download an audio-video file and you cannot play it into your player. Isn’t it a curse when the media player in your PC breaks down right in the middle of what you are watching?  It might be there’s a video you took a while ago and you just want to try it and share to friends, only to find out it won’t work on your player.  Well there’s good news to that.  Finally you will be able to share these files through conversion.  But what’s an AVI?  You have been troubled with this kind of file.  If you were to understand it, you should at least know something about it.   It stands for audio video interleave.  The entire audio-video file is divided into three parts. For it to run properly, it needs an encoder/decoder or a codec.  A DVD (after digital versatile disc) on the other hand is a storage media format and can be easily read by most players.

The easiest way to convert AVI to DVD is to use video converter software. There are many existing video converters in the internet.  The difficulty that comes with it is choosing for the one that really works.  To find out which one will work best for you, try free downloads of these video converters, then test each one of them.  You can also ask your friends which one they are using, with product reviews from people you trust and know, it will be easier for you to select which video converter software to use. It takes little research and lots of patience.  If you want to really try it in full version, why not go visit your friend who has one and then try it to believe that it really works?  That will save you from the problems of using incomplete or trial versions that don’t work.  Usually trial versions don’t work quite as well as the full versions of the software.  I have to warn you though, never spend on something that you are not sure of.  If you do not know that the DVD conversion software works, then don’t waste your money on it.

You do have more things to consider before purchasing video converter software, other than trying out its trial versions.  Compare which among all of them is easier to use.  Video converter software differs in a sense that some are a little difficult to explore.  Most of these softwares available online come with instructions on the web as to how to use it.  Some instructions; however, are vague and hard to understand.  If you aren’t techie at all, you will definitely have a difficult time with it.  You can end up using it with difficulty that could take you forever.   It makes sense to choose one that is easy to use.

In selecting good video converter software, you should check out its features. Does it have fast conversion features?  Will it be able to convert not only AVI files but other file formats as well?  Does it have video editing features?  Most often, video conversion software allows you to create a movie. It lets you cut scenes, put some scenes together, and edit it for a smooth transition.  This way, you will be able to clip unwanted parts of your video.  You can even add you own choice of music or sound. You should be able to string or create a movie on your own with that software in a specific span of time. It should enable you to create chapters in your video.  The converter software should also allow you to put stills on your DVD video and edit them too.  You should also try to test how the software synchronizes both picture and sound.  The problem with most converter software lays in the fact that your movie or the entire video as a whole looks awkward.  Don’t let your videos look funny with the sound coming out late each time.   Your video converter should also allow you to customize your DVD movie’s menu and create an opening clip.  It will also be nice if that software has ISO features.    These basic features should be present in the video converter you are planning to buy.  If the software boasts of so many features imaginable, think again.  There is no perfectly completed software.  There will always be a problem that comes with it.  You may find it easy also to download free codec software from the internet. These will help you edit different movie formats too.  These will allow your player to play videos in formats it normally won’t.

Another thing worth considering is the cost of the software.  How much are you willing to spend on video converter software?  It pays to compare features and cost side by side.  You cannot compare the price of software with fewer features to software that abounds with features.  Don’t buy something you know might be overpriced.  Do not go for the cheapest ones too.  That would be like feeding your money to the sharks. Choose wisely.

How do you use video converter software?  Once you have downloaded the software you want, install it into your PC and run it.  Explore the program because usage instructions differ from software to software.  Basically most programs will ask you to load the AVI into the software.  Then it allows you to merge both video and audio files into DVD converter.  At this part, you will also be able to edit whatever you want.  Check your work thoroughly before burning it.  That will make things easier for you. Once you are satisfied with your work, make a copy of your work into a disc.  You can use Nero for easy burning.  Make sure that your video works in your player after conversion.  Pop it into a DVD player.   If it doesn’t play, then that software is not for you. As I have said earlier, it would end up as trial and error still.  Go try another one.
