Corruption in India
Philosophically the term’ Corruption’ means spiritual or moral impurity. Corruption includes bribery or embezzlement. Political corruption takes place when a government employee misuses his power and position for personal gains. Corruption exists everywhere but when it comes to India, it seems like a nationwide contest between the civil servants. Political Corruption is a major obstruction in path of development as well as economy of India. Corruption has its roots deep inside the Indian government machinery. It can be found from the smallest civil servant to the high government officials. Even for the smallest routine tasks to be done , bribe has to be paid to the officer in-charge. 40% Indians have firsthand experience of paying bribe or using a contact to get the job done.the main cause of corruption in India is the absence of transperancy, excessive regulations and a very complex taxing and licensing sytem. This causes the people to lose faith in the government and opt for non-social ways to forge tax. In the last decade, many government scandals have been exposed and commom man’s faith in government has declined trememdously.
Many schemes , plans and laws have been introduced by government to reduce corruption and help common man but all in vain. Nothing solid and fullproof has yet been devised that can assure anything. Every common man in India wishes to see a Corruptin-free India.
