About a month ago, a US-hackathon session followed by a number of senior high school and university students in the United States resulted in a web browser application which does not require an internet connection to be used, and the web browser is dubbed as the Cosmos. How can?
In short, when a user enters a URL in the URL address field, Cosmos will send it via SMS to a web service created using Twilio & Node.JS. These services will do the loading of the various content available on the website, also remove all scripts, CSS, image, and perform archive for the mini version of the files and send it back to the device in 1 or 2 pieces of SMS. Cosmos will handle the incoming message, and arrange content in it and display the page requested by the user.
Given all the processing is done via SMS, the mobile phone users did not need the internet connection to display the desired web content. Great is not it?
