Craig Kielburger, started the mission of helping kids by kids when he was 12 years old and the goal was to change the world. Now, 17 years later, he works with 2 million volunteers under the age of 18 and they still keep doing that.
His purpose was to free children all over the world, but what made him think about this mission was reading an article about a Pakistani child who was murdered. He went to his classmates and ask who was going to help him. Then, 11 friends started to change the world for kids to have a better life.
Attacking the ignorance which brings slavery by building schools in 45 countries which includes South Asia to provide clean water is one of the main goal for developing countries because they always suffer from that.
This concept can even be implemented in Afghanistan by Afghan kids, although there are many security issues for traveling from one city to another. But they can be inspired by the idea and start from the villages around their city or even inside the city.
The Afghan Development Project initiative which builds Internet classroom in Afghanistan is a great achievement that enables 40 schools with 160,000 kids to start not only changing their future but also their country. Providing a social media curriculum and an online educational software, the Examer and extending the idea to Central and South Asian countries will connect millions of students with different history and background.
I refer to the question that was asked to Craig Kielburger about his mission which was "Why You?". His answer was admirable:"Why not!" He said: "If nobody in the world say why me, then nothing will be accomplished. Why me? Because I have met those children, I have seen them. Why not me?!"
We have a proverb that says: "Ba yak gul, bhaar na-mey-sha", "One flower does not bring spring" which means that one person's work usually is not enough to finish a job, it takes teamwork. It is not just one person but the whole community together that can get what they want out of what they think.
