ÉCU August Newsletter Update

It is hot, hot, hot in Paris this month! As Parisians begin to shuffle their way back from their summer vacations, the empty streets of Paris are beginning to clutter up once again. With the month of August swiftly coming to a close, it heralds the bittersweet end of summer and the start of busy spring days ahead. After a nice relaxing summer it’s time for the ÉCU team to get back to work! Although the summer has been a bit more laid back than usual, submissions are still rolling in everyday from across the globe and our submission judges are thoroughly enjoying the films that they are seeing!
At the end of September six films from ÉCU 2011 (Stanley Pickle by Victoria Mather, Never Winter by Jeremy Carpenter, Urban Sounds by Erick Love Lundqvist, Point Zero by Andreas Schaap, Protoparticulas by Chema García Ibarra, A Damn Killer by Markus Pajtler) will be screened at the Open Cinema film festival in St. Petersburg! We are very proud to see these films find new audiences in Russia and whole-heartedly congratulate the filmmakers.
Another exciting new festival partnership has been finalized this month and we now count ourselves proud partners with The Villa de Leyva International Film Festival in Colombia, taking place 5-11th of September. The slogan for Villa de Leyva International Film Festival this year is “Handmade” which reflects their focus on the crafting of narrative and images rather than the budget – which is what independent filmmaking is all about. They will be presenting a selection of our award-winning ÉCU 2011 films and YAY, ÉCU-on –the- Road” goes to Columbia!
Don’t miss out on more of exciting news by staying tuned on our website and other media channels! Until next time…
