This Romanian Festival, founded in 2005 by the “Artis Foundation” film production, it is the only international film festival that, from the very beginning, looked towards the Black Sea region’s film industry, doing something different. The festival has grown every year and became noticed abroad due to the quality of the submitted movies as well as the events included in the official program.
Since 2007 each edition is held under the High Patronage of the Romanian President. Ro-IFF is also the only festival focusing on the activity of women Directors in Cinema.
With more than 100 film submitted and lots of guests from abroad, our partner Ro-IFF gained international recognition, and despite the ridiculous amount of financing that continues decreasing year by year, it keeps promoting film literacy and Romania’s image around the world.
This year the Romanian International Film Festival, that is going to take place from Sept 28th to Oct 6th, is going to host a special screening of ÉCU films from our 2012 festival: “The Game” directed by Marcin Janiec, “Zoltan: The Hungarian Gangster of Love” by Justin Reardon, “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” by David Schmidt and “Berlinoises” directed by Rocco Labbè.
In addition to the special screening, the festival extended its invitation to Kadi Lokk, ÉCU’s Festival Manager to become a jury of this year’s Ro-iff. Kadi is eager to see the film talent that awaits her in Bucharest, Romania.
