Cyclone Vardah has today struck the Tamil Nadu coast of India at afternoon. It has caused strong winds and heavy rain to Chennai. Several buildings have already been shattered and trees uprooted. Power -supply has been suspended in many areas as a precaution. All flights and trains have been suspended. Hundreds of roads have been blocked by uprooted trees and poles in some parts of Chennai. The government has asked people to stay indoors.  The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is working round the clock to issue updates on Cyclone Vardah.
