An action plan for your detoxification diet:

  • Start your detoxification diet over a weekend, or at a time you don’t have much to do.

  • 1 day of fasting, liquids only

  • Plan to walk at least 15 minutes each day

  • At least 2 litres of liquids per day, preferable water, distilled, purified filtered or bottled are good, herbal teas and dandelion coffee if you wish.

  • ½ litre of fruit or vegetable juice is allowed.

  • Apple and carrot juice are a great combination, combine the two juices with one third water, you can add some grated ginger and fresh watermelon juice.

  • Watermelon is loaded with vitamin c and beta-carotene, and the seeds are loaded with Vitamin E, Zinc and selenium, they are a great antioxidant.

  • A good antioxidant cocktail, blend watermelon flesh and seeds to make a great tasting drink.

  • Eat as much as you like of the following fruits and vegetables:

  • Fruits: Peaches, mangoes, melons, red grapes, cantaloupe melons, kiwis, citrus fruits, apricots, berries. Limit your bananas intake to one every other day.

  • Vegetables: Cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beetroot, artichokes, red cabbage, carrots, peppers, cucumber, sweet potatoes, spinach, kale, tomatoes, pumpkin, bean sprouts, tomatoes, and watercress. Potatoes limit to one every other day.

After a week you can eat in moderation:

  • Grains such as corn, millet, brown rice, and quinoa. Two portions a day maximum.

  • Once a day Fish is acceptable. Good fish to choose from are salmon, tinned tuna, tinned sardines, and mackerel.

  • Daily allowances of oils use extra-virgin olive oil instead of butter for cooking purposes. For dressings you can use cold-pressed seed oils.

  • A hand full a day of the following nuts:

  • Raw unsalted nuts and seeds. You can choose from Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds (linseeds) and sesame seeds.

  • While on the detoxification diet you must avoid all meat products, dairy products, eggs, wheat products salts and food that contain salts. Hydrogenated fats (trans fats), food additives and preservatives, artificial sweeteners, all fried foods, dried fruits, and spices.

  • Vitamins and mineral supplement take a double dose daily, and two 1000mg Vitamin C capsules.

Once you start the diet you might feel worse for a few days before you start to feel better, this is because you are eliminating foods you have been eating for a while and now the body has to withdraw them. After a few days you will definitely feel better.
