Latest chapter 764 of one piece revealed that the Celestial Dragons called the D’s as ‘Devils’ & they are the natural enemy of the Gods. Celestial Dragons are self-proclaimed creators of world, i.e. Gods.
Ok we all know this now, let’s go ahead & observe the word ‘Devil’.
Doesn’t the word ring a bell, yeah the word has appeared countless times before us,
‘Devil Fruits’
So now let me summarize this theory.

A long time ago, in Ancient Kingdom, people of D clan created fruits. Theses fruits after eating gave that being supernatural powers. We all know what kind of powers it gave, so no need to go in detail.
We know that there's three types of Devil Fruit's - Paramecia , Zoan and Logia.
We also know that there was mentioned "Tree" that grows Devil Fruit's in One Piece. I don't think it's just one "Tree" but 3 of them. Each Devil Fruit type having one tree which grows them. For example, just like if it’s an apple tree, it produces only apple fruits. So if it’s a Logia fruit, its tree is just for Logia fruits.
They created trees which yielded a fruit at regular period.
Eventually, a war broke out between Ancient Kingdom & 20 allied nations. But the so people of Ancient kingdoms were astonished that these D people had supernatural powers (those who had consumed the fruit). The Ancient Kingdom clashed with the 20 allied Nations. These Tenryubito’s (self-proclaim Gods) who feared the power of these fruits & the people of D clan, started calling the people with D’s as ‘Devil’ and their created fruits as ‘Devil Fruits’. To make the story short, the Ancient Kingdom along with the D clan lost the war and then the fruit users killed by the 20 allied nations not knowing that when a user died the power of the Devil Fruit reincarnates to the nearest normal fruit. So it didn’t take much time for the fruits in coming to spotlight.
*Only the original Devil Fruits that was never eaten before grows on these trees and when it was eaten then the user died it just reincarnates in a normal fruit in its nearest range.
So here is what I think, that D’s are creator of Devil fruits. ^_^
