It has been a total day of venture for the touring Indian team when nothing but some early afternoon drizzle could interrupt them from what they opted to do after winning the toss in the one off Test series against Bangladesh at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah

 

Bangladesh suffered from what has been a ridiculous decision by the team selectors to play with one pacer in the stock as occasional pacer Soumya Sarkar opened up the bowling for the home side with single genuine pacer Mohammad Shahid.

Both the Indian openers played meticulously well all through the day; Shikhar Dhawan scored a run a ball century and became unbeaten in 150 runs while India is cruising towards a huge total in their first innings; they are 239 without losing a single wicket at stumps of day one.

Dhawan maintained an enormous strike rate of near about hundred and the other opener Murali Vijoy accompanied him well with his 89 off 178 balls (4×8, 6×1). Shekhor Dhawan played 158 balls on his way to 150 runs hitting 21 boundaries

Team Bangladesh is studded with spinners but no one could prove a point for himself in the day’s play. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim used almost all his bowling options including Imrul Kayes with no result in the end. Shakib Al Hasan seemed to be the most accurate one among them – his bowling figure stands 13 – 0 – 47 – 0 in the day.
