Did China Sell Weapons to Gaddafi? By Ambassador mo

After recent discovery of documents indicating that Gaddafi and China were contemplating an arms deal, US UN Ambassador Susan Rice responded to reporters. Such purported weapons deal was purportedly being arranged after the UN Security Council had adopted sanctions resolution on Gaddafi’s regime, including an arm’s embargo, China had voted for the same resolution. After initially opposing “regime change,” Beijing has officially quickly come around to improve ties to the rebels and now new authorities in Libya. China has had extensive commercial and petroleum ties to Libya. US Ambassador Susan Rice (Bottom PHOTO) spoke to reporters outside the Security Council. Concerning recent allegations that Chinese companies had sold weapons to Muammar Qadhafi's regime as recently as July, Rice said that she expected China “to continue to explain and clarify its understanding of what did or didn’t transpire” and added that at this point the US “will work with them and through the committee to ensure that the arms embargo is fully respected.” (Middle PHOTO - China UN Ambassador & Susan Rice's counterpart Li Baodong - UN Photo Credit) Related ARTICLE – “Winners & Losers in Post-Gaddafi Libya” diplomaticallyincorrect.org/films/blog_post/beyond-libya-gaddafi-winners-losers-by-ambassador-mo/34643
