Dinner and a movie - Film Annex Newsletter

A saint, a runaway, a soldier, a dandy, and a mutant. These mysterious figures come together in Tobias Knipf's intriguing, black and white, minimalist fashion films, called "Don't Tell the World that We Know." As he introduces us to a group of talented model-turned actors, Knipf proves that he is an artist who wears many hats: a filmmaker, a photographer, and a graphic designer. Take a glimpse into Knipf's world, and you'll discover that film and fashion co-exist to create wondrous things! This week, we asked our audience to pick their favorite short film on Film Annex, and we are proud to present Urraca as the chosen one! This animated short is once again brought to us by a talented student from the Vancouver Film School. Philip Piaget hand-drew it entirely on paper and then digitally painted and animated it. Urraca tells the story of a blue, human-like creature with powers so magical that it accidentally ends up creating a dangerous black bird. We were really impressed by the drawings and the fluidity of their movements. So take our word and don't miss this amazing animated story!
