Amidst mounting world cup fever, Serena Hotel organised a two-day cricket tournament, providing a chance to diplomats and others professionals to show off their cricketing skills.
Mr Aziz Boolani, CEO Serena Hotels, inaugurated the tournament.
In the first 10 over match, Indian High Commission defeated the joint team of Australian and British high commissions. The joint-team also had in its ranks high commissioners Peter Heyward and Philippe Barton but the seasoned diplomats could not lead their team to victory.
In the second match, young players of the Afghanistan High Commission defeated a combined team of Sri Lankan and Bangladesh high commissions.
The third qualifying match, which was reduced to 7 overs because of rain, was played between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan Air Force (PAF). The airmen wrapped up the match in just 2 overs by chasing the required total of 40 runs.
