Diwali was fun. Sat through my first puja and ended up with my leg falling asleep. It was an interesting experience and I got to participate by ringing the bell. Pictures were taken though I'm yet to ask for a copy. After the house puja, we put out diyas then it was time for the office puja which I skipped to watch the neighborhood kids lite crackers. Then we went to my boss' brother's place where we had dinner and his niece took me around the neighborhood to watch the firecrackers. One of her neighbors gave me a diwali gift which was nice. I may give it to someone else because I don't like the particular sweets. I think it's the texture that put me off. Dinner was yummy of mutton stew and channa dal with chapati. I was able to prevent my plate from being refilled since we were eating late and I know how my stomach gets with heavy meals late at night. My boss' nephew was so hyper about fireworks and it was fun to watch as the firecrackers were lit. Granted they left my ears ringing and the streets smokey. His niece told me to stay in India specifically Dehradun which is a nice thought. I hope she wrote her essay on Diwali for school.
This weekend was the first Kitchen Garden Workshop in New Delhi. I didn't attend but a part of me wonders why I didn't ask to attend in case they have one in Hyderabad before I leave. Saturday was kind of a work day then I ventured to the post office. 4km walk is not far until you have to make the return trip and the last 1-2km in the rain/hail. Well got my postcards mailed and it was cheaper here than in Hyderabad. Hail was the size of marbles and hurt when they hit my head. Well next time I'll find some shelter to wait out the storm which ended up lasting for a while. Left to my own devices I ate what was simple to cook (eggs and instant noodles). I was home alone Sunday which meant TV day and lots of sleep. Kicking myself for not watching Anjaala Anjaali in entirety. Looked like a good movie. Not on youtube for free :(
