Do Young People Listen to Classical Music?

Posted on at

I listen to classical music quite a lot. I found the passion for classical music when I was around 14 years old and heard "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky. My mum bought it on vinyl from a garage sale. I couldn't stop playing it.

I have to be in the mood for classical music and I have no favourite composer as such, but certain pieces of music either relax me greatly or invigorate me.

I have been listening to classical music all through the time I have brought four children up, but only one of my children is interested in listing to it occasionally. That's my son who has ADHD. He feels the pathos, the emotion that certain pieces of music convey. He is a sensitive soul like me, and I can only share my love of classical music with him. My other kids make a funny face when it is playing, highly suggesting that I have lost the plot!

Do any of you younger people appreciate classical music? Do you have a favourite composer? Why is it looked down upon by many younger people do you think?
