Don't Get Your Hopes Up?

Posted on at

I have a problem with the saying "don't get your hopes up". The problem I have with this saying is that when you see things as hopeless then you're automatically in a far worse of situation then when you are hopeful. What if everything fails and you become disappointed you say? I say that hope is the shovel to dig you out of the disappointment hole. The key in my opinion is that if your plans don't turn out as you planned then hold on to hope. Hope should be one of the major foundations for your life. The thing that we all need to understand is that with no perseverance could there be such thing as hope at all? It's like having different shades of black and white in a black and white film. If there were no black then you would see a blank white screen and nothing else and vice versa. We need perseverance in life in order to have hope. It's easier said then done in many cases, but the more perseverance a person goes through, the more hope is needed. I believe that hope never fails as the Bible says. I can hardly say that I am an example of a hope fulfilled life to the naked eye, but there are things in my life where my hope and faith in God had brought me out of. To be hopeless is comparable to a sin where as the Bible says to always be hopeful. By someone telling me to not get my hopes up they are directly telling me to rebel against Gods word. All my life I've heard the words "be realistic". Well look where being realistic got me. It got me a real job "yay". If you always think realistic you will get realistic results. Being realistic means you are settling for something, and your self worth will allow you to settle for selling short of your dreams. I have adopted the idea of being farfetched. I feel that being farfetched is a great thing. We should all be farfetched. Imagine if everyone was farfetched, then what we now all consider farfetched wouldn't be farfetched at all. You can honestly say that my life has been full of disappointment, but for some reason I am hopeful like I'm a slave to it. The Bible does say to be a slave to hope. Sure I get down when things don't go my way, but those disappointment intervals seem to be getting shorter everyday. Almost like disappointment will eventually be eradicated from me. I can't speak for everyone cause we all have different issues to deal with (some harder than others), but to be hopeful is surely a great daily practice I recommend to everyone. Just because there is no visible sign of hope being effected in my life, doesn't mean it's not making a difference. I can surely go through each day a lot more easier knowing that it takes a lot more to break this dude down. My face also glows with a hint of happiness where ever I go. Hope creates opportunity in the workplace and with that special someone as people like to be around positive people. My wife and I have gone through tough times, and all she asks of me is to hold on to my hope and faith. It makes it so much easier to deal with the situation and it even draws us closer together. Anyone and I mean anyone can be bitter during the hard times, to have hope during hard times is surely something special. I know that my life has success in store for it, I believe it like I don't have a choice but to believe it. Can it be tiring to be hopeful with no results for so long? Sure it can be tiring, but what is even more tiring is to not have hope at all.
