Dedicated to the loving memory of,
Emily L.
I watch you remain strong thinking for you nothing could scare
No one knows the crippling fear you conceal
A soul that’s been beaten - stripped down bare
But never too weak to abandon your zeal
Why do I run and hide
Like a scared child in the night
Drown all I feel – I don’t have your pride
I’d already given up if I was being eaten by such a parasite
If ever there were someone worthy to emulate
You’ll be the statue left after the smoke has cleared
The beaten, scared few emerge from the dust–the only ones that relate
I am one with a permanent memory forever seared
Short words could never say what I felt for you
Dragon tears were all your loved ones knew
You accepted happy endings never come true
I wish the story of the phoenix was about you
A Note from the author:
I wrote Dragon Tears with the image of a person crying tears made of molten lava - each drop searing the person's face. Dragon Tears is about a man remembering a woman who was suffering from the disease lupus. The woman who had Lupus was stronger than the man who didn't have lupus.
For those that don't know, a phoenix is a bird that dies in a fire only to rise from the ashes and start another life cycle.
