Dry Spell Looming After Hurricane Sandy

Rising floodwaters from the massive storm smashed into a New Jersey liquor distributor causing a million dollar loss of top shelf alcohol. A large puddle of glass and alcohol residue was seen outside the Fedway Associates warehouse in Kearny, NJ. The smell of red wine and the sight of broken bottles of high priced alcohol such as Grey-Goose vodka and Cristal champagne littered the streets outside the warehouse.

Fedways President Neil Barnett shared some thoughts on the company’s Facebook page. “Our office building was hit with a 10 foot tidal surge and as a result our infrastructure and inventories were severely compromised.”

In addition to crippling the bottle service the storm also affected the company’s officers and delivery infrastructure. The company has been working around the clock to clean up the mess and hopes to be operating at full strength around mid- December.

Damage from the storm could leave countless area bars and nightclubs with a shortage of premium drinks, including Cristal and Svedka Vodka.

The good news for New York City nightlife is the destruction of this NJ warehouse will have little effect on the bars and clubs in the Big Apple.
