While most people believe that education is a very important key to Afghanistan’s progress, not many schools are available to impart this education, and especially so for girls. However, the Houz-e-Karbas High School is an exception and has been helping women receive good quality education for almost half a century now.

Set up in 1962, the school is home to over 4000 students, all girls. The spacious and beautiful red brick building has large classrooms and accommodates students of all ages. However, since the number of students is very high, classes are held in outdoor tents too. This is done in an attempt to fit in the maximum number of students so that no girl who is willing to study is deprived of the opportunity. With over 90 dedicated teachers and 5 senior teachers, it can safely be said that the girls are in safe hands. The teaching is carried out in a very methodical way and the school tries to provide the girls with all the basic and modern facilities. With the help of Film Annex, the school built up its very first internet classroom, something that will surely help broaden the academic horizons of both the students and the teachers.

The students of the Houz-e-Karbas High School clearly seem to be enjoying their time there. The cheerful ambiance, good quality education and the promise of a stable future draw these young women to the institute. The education manager and the 5 administrators put in a lot of effort to improve the standards of the school every single day.
