'Ek Paheli Leela' is an ode to Sunny Leone but it is quite disheartening to see how the makers have used her to commodify women in the film. While the director has managed to have Sunny do what she is known for, he has failed miserably at helping the viewers get to see her acting skills.
Sunny plays Meera, a supermodel from Milan. She feels the only way to get successful in the glamour industry is by wearing short skirts. The damsel doesn't shown any inhibition in saying, 'Glamour Industry mein success ka short cut, short skirt', which partially explains why the film is a lot about flashing the flesh, quite evident from bikini-clad models shimmying around Sunny as she performs on the stage.
Since there are nine songs in the movie that keeps it going, director Bobby Khan was aware of the fact that the film might find some takers only for its music. This could be the key reason for getting in Amaal Mallik, one of the best music directors in the industry, compose music for the film.
The plot is based on reincarnation and it's about a besotted pair that gets killed in the previous birth and gets to see glimpses of their past in the next birth. The casting director picked the male actors in terms of how buffed they look. Rajneesh Duggal, Jas Arora, Jay Bhanushali, Rahul Dev and Mohit Ahlawat- all they did in the movie was to show off their toned torso and leave the female audience swooning.
The makers have tried to add the humour element by using multiple dialogues laced with sexual connotations. These dialogues are anything but entertaining. They are crass and leaves us wondering why said in the first place!
Epic is the climax that would certainly give a splitting headache and make you reach out for a dagger to stab yourself. The movie is average but the entertainment quotient is certainly high. You won't be bored while watching this 'soft porn' shot in the picturesque Rajasthan exuding vivaciousness.
Go for it only if you are a Sunny Leone fan or you wish to have a good laugh at the sheer nonsense being shown.
