An elephant that emerged from the Baikanthapur forest range in West Bengal';s Jalpaiguri district on Friday entered the nearby Kathambari village and first of all destroyed at least four houses and killed three buffaloes which, was subsequently followed by killing of three people in the same village. When forest officials arrived for rescue, they were surrounded by angry villagers for hours. However, they managed to drive the back the tusker into the forest.
