Salma takes karate classes to a handful of girl students. The mantra is to “protect and protest”. She is just a yellow belt holder and still a long way to go. Only her determination and circumstances brought her this long way up.
She hails from the economically backward classes, her mother a maid and her drunken father a daily wage worker. Salma luckily was able to study till class 6. When old enough, she was dragged with her mother accompanying to help her out in different household helping. She tried to resist, but could protect herself with the flow of the tide.
The change triggered in that Day she was literally harassed and abused by a landlord she was working for. She felt embarrassed, but wanted to take some action and inform the local police. The parents stopped her as that person has a political hold.
She wanted to overcome this shocking experience and do something for a purpose in life. Next to her house there was karate lessons conducted every day. She used to stand enthusiastically watch the proceedings and tried to practice all by herself. Seeing her interest an angle like big brother according to her came to her rescue. He gave her free lessons and now she herself is a master teaching students. Not only this gave her a purpose but also supports her living and also helps her family financially.
