Like other developing countries in the South Asia, Pakistan is also experiencing a major shift in its language choices. Wherever you go, you see young children and adults speaking in English. While we are not arguing about that and we think English is an absolute necessity for development and for better job opportunities at home and abroad, we do accept the fact that we all love to speak in Urdu, our mother tongue.

No matter how fluent you are at English, your way of expressing is just different when you are speaking Urdu. It’s a beautiful feeling that you are lucky enough to enjoy when in Pakistan or when with Pakistanis.

1. There are no “ABAY YAARs” in English

2. Everything just flows out naturally. We don’t need to stop and think even for a minute.

3. Creating new words in Urdu is just so SIMPLE. Just add ‘wala’ at the end of everything and voila, a new word!

4. Urdu insults are just so much better than English ones. Hence, we all shift to Urdu naturally when we are scolding/insulting someone.

5. And Urdu jokes make life so interesting and fun.

6. Its just so much more romantic when you are talking to your significant other

7. Urdu poems and songs have so much more emotions in them than English ones.

8. You don’t need to look up in the dictionary for any word you use in your daily conversations

9. You are mostly never at a loss of words.

10. Urdu slang is so much better than English

11. And there are just some words that you love saying in Urdu which can’t even be translated to English

12. Above all, it’s just too sophisticated, even more than English.
