  1. MATERIALS AND METHODS

Nine (09) different wheat entries selected from 17th SAWSN were tested at two different locations of the province (KPK) for yield potential, stability and disease resistance. These lines sown at BARS Kohat and ARI D.I Khan at proper watter conditions in RCB design having three replications with plot size of 5х1.8 m at each location. Variety KT-2010 was used as a check for comparison. Sowing was accomplished on 15th Nov, 2012.

Fertilizers @ one bag DAP and urea per acre (N: P2O5 @ 80:58 kg ha-1) were applied at the time of sowing. Data on Days to 50% flowering, Plant height (cm), Days to maturity and grain yield (kg/ha) were recorded, analyzed at 0.05 P.

Days to 50% flowering:
Entries differ significantly for days to 50% flowering (Table 2). Maximum days (114) to 50% flowering were noted for entry No-338 while the minimum days of 106 were noted for entry No-335. Locations also differed significantly for days to 50% flowering. Maximum days (124) were noted at L1 (BARS Kohat) and minimum days to 50% flowering (96) were recorded at L2 (ARI D.I Khan). Interaction of LхV also significantly affected the days to 50% flowering.

Plant height:
Wheat entries tested in MPT-BARS Kohat Rainfed (2013-13) did not differ significantly for plant height (Table 3). Locations and interaction of LхV was also non-significantly different. However the maximum plant height (103 cm) was recorded for entry No. 339 while minimum (94 cm) was noted for entry No. 335. Rests of the entries were in between the given range (94-103).

Days to maturity:
Table 4 indicated that there was no significant difference between the entries for days to maturity. However, the maximum days (168) were recorded for entry No-7 while minimum days (152) to maturity were noted for entry No-345.

Grain yield Kg/ha
Wheat entries and locations were found significantly different for producing grain yield (kg/ha) (Table 5). The maximum grain yield of 3196 kg/ha was recorded for entry No-338 while entry No-7 produced the minimum grain yield of 2410 kg/ha. Rests of the entries were in between the given range. Locations also differed significantly at location L1 (BARS Kohat), the highest yield of 3843 kg/ha was recorded as compared to L2 (ARI D.I Khan) where 1614 kg/ha grain yield was noted. Interaction of Location х variety was non-significantly different.
