Though the BJP has fallen well short of a majority in the recently concluded state assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, it has more than doubled its seats in the state legislature compared to that in the last election. In the previous legislature, it had only 11 seats out of 87 seats. But in the present assembly elections it has bagged 25 seats, thus the gain is about 130%. It is true that the gains have come mainly from the Hindu-majority of Jammu region. But it also proves that henceforth it would be a political force in the valley to be reckoned with. Isn’t it?
