It may have happened on Friday the 13th, but the stars were positively aligned around our launch party for Stephen Curry. The event celebrated the basketball superstar’s new role as the first style ambassador for #ExpressMen. A huge crowd came out to the retro-classy NYC lounge, Avenue, to get in on the welcome, catch a performance by Ludacris and shop a pop-up closet filled with our 1MX shirt collection. Special thanks to lifestyle brand Grungy Gentleman for sponsoring.
Decked out in a Micro Print Blazer, Stephen arrived on the scene with his wife, Ayesha, who looked drop dead gorgeous sporting our Scuba Flounce Dress and her growing baby bump. (Aw, congrats!)
The man of the night took to the catwalk to introduce Ludacris, who kicked off his set with a song dedicated to Stephen (“All I Do is Win,” naturally). Luda ended up having such a great time onstage that he kept pulling out more tracks like “What’s Your Fantasy” and “Money Maker.”
In the crowd and in the photo booth, the celeb watch became kind of a family affair over the night. Stephen’s dad, Dell Curry, stopped in for a few pics in his own dapper suit look. When not posing with current UFC Middleweight champ Chris Weidman, Pitch Perfect aca-boy Skylar Astin did some mugging for the camera with friends and family – including brother Jace, Grungy Gentleman’s editor-in-chief. Also spotted: rappers Juelz Santana and Jadakiss, our own menswear models Ryan Kennedy and RJ Rogenski, and Aussie cover guy Jordan Barrett.
