The win against Villarreal was Barça’s tenth on the trot - here are some more facts and figures from the game:

  • Since January 4, Barça have won all 10 games played and scored 37 goals, with just 8 conceded.
  • The team are closing in on the 11 game winning record from 2008/09.
  • With his goal against Villarreal, Gerard Piqué has now scored in all three competitions this season  - three in the league and one each in the Champions League and Spanish Cup.
  • Piqué is the fourth team player to do this - though the first who’s not an attacker, with Messi,Neymar Jr, Suárez and Sandro also having scored in all three competitions.
  • With half a season yet to play, Piqué has already beaten his best ever goal tally for a campaign by scoring against Apoel, Espanyol, Cordobaa, Elche and Villarreal.
  • Neymar Jr’s miss was the third time Barça have failed to score from the spot this season, following Messi’s misses against Levante and Athletic Bilbao
  • Wednesday night was the first time Rafinha, Iniesta and Mascherano have played as a midfield trio - the three had played together before, but always with Mascherano at the back.
  • Mascherano made a total of 86 successful passes and only failed with 4 passes.
