There was an attempted military coup in Turkey in the early hours of Saturday but fortunately it was foiled as crowds answered President's call to take to the streets to support him. Around 50 soldiers involved in the attempted military coup surrendered on one of the bridges across the Bosphorus in Istanbul, abandoning their tanks with their hands raised in the air. Apart from it, tens of other pro-coup soldiers surrendered to armed police after being surrounded in Istanbul's central Taksim square. However, the night of explosions, air battles and gunfire across the capital left dozens dead and at least 150 people wounded.
Failed military coup in Turkey.
