Fashion's Night Out 2012 was a huge success given the only measuring stick I could judge by, the immense volume of amazingly stylish fashion fans maneuvering the streets of SOHO, New York City to view the deals, celebrities, models, designers and fellow fashionistas for this yearly event. Started by Vogue Editor in Chief Anna Wintour in 2009 FNO goal was to help get buyers back in the stores when the economic downturn battered the fashion retailers.
Since that first event, Fashion's Night Out has morphed into a global event in hundreds of cities. "A portion of the proceeds from the 2012 FNO collection went to the New York City AIDS Fund in the NY Community Trust."
We are fortunate to have a relationship with many of the employees at the Marc Jacobs Collection store on Mercer St. so we typically enjoy the madness of the evening right inside their store as it always is a main attraction for the fashion fanatics. Marc Jacobs, as he does every year, gets to the store and stays for about an hour, taking pictures, signing autographs and creating pure madness amongst his crowd of loyal fans. Every person who entered the store got a free gift of winter gloves, Champagne, and tons of samples. We'd say the generosity of MJ co-owner Robert Duffy was the catalyst for the very warm welcome his customers received for FNO. They were to say the least very happy.
We're certain the millions who made it out for this spectacular event experienced this same level of warmth and hospitality and had an incredible evening all around the world.
It was a great night for Fashion!
