Just logging on to announce that I have just completed the final scene for the feature script I have been toiling away on for a good few years now. I was unsure how I would feel as this has been on my mind for varying amounts of time every single day since I wrote the lines: Danny walks barefoot through the tall, wet grass running along side the empty canal. His jeans are damp and brush heavily against his ankles. The sun bakes down onto his back and bounces off the dark water.
Since then I haven't been able to let it go and now I feel slightly euphoric that it has an ending. I say an ending as a read through tomorrow will hopefully determine whether it is The ending but a strong scene to complete the powerful drama - most importantly a film that I would love to see.
I set myself a target of completion by 2013 and due to our little company having the most successful year in it's 9 year life finding the time has been difficult but deadlines are what we do and I am determined to meet this one.Reading the complete film through as I have done today I forget the beautiful elements of the story that surprise me and is why I love the screenwriting discipline. And then the dilemmas when you simply don't know where to go, which characters to kill on top of this being a debut feature and can't possibly be ordinary which is why I also hate the discipline in equal amounts.
The note book is full of sketches alongside snippits of scenes such as this one that, whilst I drew it a year ago it has ended up in the final scene.
