Fereshteh from NYC, 60 minutes and professional women writers

Posted on at

Today is Friday, end of a week with lots of works, fun, experiences and visiting new people. I can call it a "communication week" as I sent many interviews to different people who have interesting businesses in Afghanistan, Central and south Asia and for us can be a good collaboration to expand our Afghan Development Project.

On Tuesday I interviewed Mike Swain, who won the Judo World Championships  gold medal in 1987. We spoke about his background and achievement as an athlete. The interesting point about him was that, he was invited to London Olympic 2012 as a moderator and for him to announce Shahrkhani first Saudi Arabian woman was a surprise while after announcing her name all the people in the stadium clapped  for her, for me that is a great step for all Islamic country to start supporting their women not even in sport but in all social activities.

On Tuesday night I was invited to join the 3rd  anniversary for the League of professional Women Writers where they invited Milly Barranger, Julie Gilbert and Ruth Wolff as their guests. The League of Professional Women Theater founded in 1982 by Julia Miles, who was artistic director of the Women's Project and the League's First president.

The interesting point is that with FimAnnex contribution we are going to find Afghan female filmmakers, and promote their works by writing blogs and doing interviews. Although there are many talented Afghan female filmmakers in Afghanistan who won several awards in many festivals but now the important issue is that how we can connect female filmmakers around the world specially in Central and South Asia together where they can establish a strong relationship and support each other.

Today I also interviewed Lauren Lovelace, the Executive Director in U.S - Afghan Women's Council, Goergetown University. She had wonderful experiences working in Central and South Asia like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka for women empowerment, pubic policy and training leadership.

What they did in Afghanistan is impressive, they created scholarships for students to attend the American University of Afghanistan, constructed a learning center for disadvantaged children in Bamyan an capacity building programs for women awareness.

Finally the most important one is that, I am going to publish every Monday a blog about 60 Minutes show in CBS channel and add my comments as an Afghan girl, it includes both Farsi and English together.

I finish my blog with an Afghan proverb which says: "Donya ba omid Zende ast", The world is alive with hope!
