For me this week was a combinations of Sad controversy news with courage and hopes both related to kids and Education. The first one was the massacre tragedy in Sandy Hook Elementary School of Newtown Connecticut on Friday 14 where 26 people were killed.
Yesterday I read an article about Malala Yosufzai in Time magazine, written by Aryn Baker the Middle East Bureau Chief for TIME, a role in which she covers politics, society, the military and the regional war on terror.
Malala Yousafzai, a school student and an education activist from Pakistan and the story about her courage to raise her voice against Taliban that prevent girls from continuing their education and going to school is not forgettable. On 9 October 2012, Malala was shot in the head by Taliban when she was returning home by school bus with her friends. However, right now she is in England for rehabilitation and getting better eventually.
Depends on where you live, these tragedies will happen for you once a time, but in Countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan, it happens most of the time, specially for school girls. We had numerous examples of water and air poisoning, gun shots and scarred by Acid and Violence.
But Lauren Lovelace the Executive Director of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council at Georgetown University thinks different about Afghan women and their situations in Afghanistan.
However, Christmas holiday is coming and every child around the world waiting to see what Santa will give him/her as a gift. For Afghan kids ,Santa will bring Internet classroom to their schools. 40 schools will be connected to Internet with 160,000 students and the next step would be the students in Central and South Asia.
Wubbzy’s Night Before Christmas, an applications which is designed by cupcake digital for kids. This application is a festive deluxe storybook adaptation of the classic The Night Before Christmas holiday poem. The story takes place on a very special Christmas Eve, where Wubbzy and his friends are snuggly-snug in their beds until they are awakened by the pitter-patter, jingle-jangle and merry sounds of Santa Claus and his reindeer. Kids will love this new take on a holiday tradition from the magical world of Wuzzleburg. I hope parents and kid enjoy the application during Christmas holidays.
I finish my blog with an educational proverb from Afghanistan which says: "Ze Gahvare ta Gor danesh bejoy", "Seek knowledge from cradle to grave". Never stop learning, whether you are young or old.
