Your iPhone has become slower? Not to worry!
Here's how to speed it up.
iPhones do actually slow down as time goes on and here are the few ways to speed it up -
CLEARING RAM (Random Access Memory)
Sometimes apps don't give up the RAM even when quit which results in slow running iPhone.
Restarting iPhone is the fastest way to force free it from the apps that are using RAM -
- For iPhone 6s and below : Press and hold power and home buttons for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. RAM will now have been refreshed and your iPhone should be much faster.
- For iPhone 7 : Press and hold power button and volume down button for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Then you should be back in business.
USE THE REDUCE MOTION FEATURE
IOS has a lot of animations that can take up RAM and cause some overall lag and results in battery drain and slow iPhone.
You can easily disable these animations and see the results- Follow these steps:
- Go to Settings and tap on General
- Choose Accessibility
- Tap on Reduce Motion and turn the feature ON.
LOCATION AND BACKGROUND SETTINGS
There are number of apps which are constantly refreshing and using location in the background, resulting in some slow down and battery drain.
Here is how to manage Background App Refresh:
- Go to Settings and tap on General
- Choose Background App Refresh
- You can either turn it off or individually choose which app can refresh data in the background.
You can also adjust which app can use location service:
- Go to Settings and tap on Privacy
- Choose Location Services
- Manage which app can access location
CLEAR MESSAGES AFTER 30 DAYS
Go to Settings > General > Storage & iCloud Usage > Manage Storage and see for yourself how much storage space your Messages app takes up, which slows down your Messages app and iPhone in general.
Here is how to fix it:
- Go to Settings and tap on Messages
- Choose Keep Messages and then change it from "Forever" to "30 Days".
DELETE APPS
Unused apps may take up not only storage, but also RAM of your iPhone. Hence, deleting these unused apps could be an effective way to speed up your iPhone.
- Go to Settings and tap on General
- Choose Storage and iCloud Usage
- Under Storage select Manage Storage. You'll now see a list of apps and how much space they are taking up on your iPhone. Select the unwanted app and then delete.
CLEAR SAFARI DATA
To free up some memory on your iPhone, try clearing Safari Data and Cookies.
- Go to Settings and tap on Safari
- Choose Clear History and Website Data
