Film Annex Launches Dick Tracy Web TV
Posted on at
NEW YORK, September 24, 2010 – Film Annex presents www.DickTracyTV.com - a web channel showcasing the complete movie serial based on the Chicago Tribune comic strip Dick Tracy. The Web TV brings together all fifteen episodes released in 1937 by Republic Pictures on its high-quality full screen player for free.
Directed by Alan James and Ray Taylor and starring Ralph Byrd, the serial was praised by critics for its powerful conveyance of emotional drama, which was also present in Chester Gould’s comic strip. However, the serial differs from the original comic as it introduces Dick Tracy as an FBI agent working in San Francisco, rather than a Chicago police detective.
Viewers do not have to sign up to Film Annex in order to watch the series, but if they want to comment on the videos and interact with other Dick Tracy fans, they will be asked to log into the Film Annex network. By launching www.DickTracyTV.com, Film Annex hopes gather all Dick Tracy fans together and bring a highly popular movie serial of its day back into the spotlight.
