WHAT'S NEW ON FILM ANNEX?
• CORSO – THE LAST BEAT TRAILER ON FILM ANNEX
Corso – The Last Beat is a documentary on the life and the last journey of one of the most influential American poets, Gregory Corso, the youngest voice of the Beat Generation. The film is directed by Gustave Reininger, the co-creator of the hit NBC TV drama “Crime Story,” which was based on the Chicago Mafia, as well as “The Outfit,” and how it got off the streets and into the boardrooms of Las Vegas casinos.
Robert Creeley, the Bollinger Prize Recipient says, “There’s no simple generalization to make of Gregory’s life or poetry… the extraordinary presence and authority he was fact of.” Reininger sets off to discover the complexity of Corso’s life and imagination, by documenting his wisdom and his final search in life – finding his mother.
In Reininger’s film, the acclaimed actor Ethan Hawke takes the audience on the road to take a closer look at the life of GREGORY CORSO - the most colorful of the inner circle of THE BEATS, who along with KEROUAC, GINSBERG and BURROUGHS changed world culture and social history.

• FEDERICO FELLINI’S “AMARCORD” – THE NEW 35 MM RESTORATION
Don’t miss the new 35 MM restoration of this masterpiece by Federico Fellini.
“NO FILM STARTS MORE ENTRANCINGLY! Seasons make do for plots; faces, curves, and gestures serve up instant characters; epiphanies descend from nowhere, like the celebrated peacock in the snow.”
– Anthony Lane, The New Yorker
Synopsis: A year in the life of a small Italian coastal town in the nineteen-thirties, as is recalled by a director with a superstar's access to the resources of the Italian film industry and a piper's command over our imaginations. Federico Fellini's film combines the free form and make-believe splendor with the comic, bittersweet feeling for character and narrative we remember from some of his best films of the 1950s. The town in the film is based on Rimini, where Mr. Fellini grew up. Yet there is now something magical, larger-than-life about the town, its citizens and many of the things that happen to them.

WHAT EVENTS I SHOULDN’T MISS
Early Music Videos by David Bowie at the MOMA, NYC
“Held in celebration of the recent gift from the David Bowie Archive of music videos to the Museum, this program presents a special selection of works by the celebrated musician, actor, and producer. Bowie, who began playing the saxophone when he was thirteen years old, worked as a commercial artist before studying mime and, later, playing in bands. In 1969 he co-founded Beckenham Arts Lab in South London, a crucible for experimentation that hosted artist studios, poetry readings, and events such as light shows, theatrical and dance performances, and puppet shows. For several of his videos, Bowie collaborated with the photographer and filmmaker Mick Rock, best known for his photos of 1970s glam and punk icons including Iggy Pop, Queen, the Ramones, Lou Reed, and the Sex Pistols.”
