Film Premieres - Harry Potter

Are you part of those people who go see a movie on the first day of their release? Will you be one of the number one fans who will be seated in a movie theater at 11:59pm on Thursday waiting for the new 'Harry Potter' movie to begin? I think we can all agree that some movies are meant to be seen on the big screen. 'Harry Potter' would definitely be one.

I usually don't go see a movie on the first weekend. First, to avoid the disappointment of facing the 'sold out' sign. Second, to avoid the crowd. And I guess I'm not in such a hurry. One disadvantage is that I have to be careful of people giving away the ending before I had the chance to see it.

It took me a month to eventually go see 'The Social Network'. And I have a word for you: brilliant. Not so much the movie but the main character. Well, the movie is truly a great one. As I said in an earlier blog post, I'm a fan of Aaron Sorkin's work (the screenwriter). The fast-paced dialogues fit completely to Zuckerberg's personality and how fast Facebook was created. I am always impressed to see how fast ideas can be turned into real projects and companies, which is a feeling you can experience by watching the movie.

Back to Harry Potter, I don't think I will be seated in the movie theater this Thursday at 11:59pm. But I won't wait for a month for sure. I didn't even read the books. I think it is more difficult to get into a book once you have seen the movie version. The thrilling part about reading is to be able to use your own imagination to create the characters in your mind and make them yours. How can you do that if you start reading stories about a young wizard while picturing Daniel Radcliffe. I do enjoy the movies though. Watching the main characters growing up while you do too, even though we don't share the same age or experiences (who said 'I wish'?), is one of the reason. So I will go see the first part of the 7th chapter of the young wizards stories. And I will review it for you. Just don't expect it for Friday!

In the meantime, watch movies!
