Barclays officially announced that they will use fingerprint scanners for online-banking in the UK. Like what?
Barclays in collaboration with Hitachi to create a biometric reading device tech Finger Vein Authetication Techology (Vein ID).
This device is not for the finger scan fingerprints, but for the blood vessels.
Biometrics will connect a computer via USB and will allow users to access the Barclays bank their online banking information, simply by touching the scan device; without a password, pin, etc..
The plan of this device will be officially presented by Barclays in 2015.
"We have shown this technology to a wide range of business sectors and the response was quite good. This technology also has long been used by Hitachi," said Ashok Vaswani, CEO of Barclays Personal and Corporate Banking.
