Ninety people have been killed and over 350 injured in a massive fire that broke out at the Puttingal temple in Kerala's Kollam before daybreak on Sunday. It is reported that 10,000-15,000 people were present at a ground next to the temple to watch fireworks during a festival when the fire broke out as a spark during the fireworks display ignited a separate batch of firecrackers stored in preparation for the New Year festival of Vishu on Thursday. Within minutes, huge flames engulfed whole temple. The injured have been taken to 10 hospitals in and around Kollam. The most critically injured are being shifted to hospital by choppers. A probe has been initiated by the state government of Kerala.
