Firenze Race Team is the official Formula SAE team of Università degli Studi di Firenze. We started our racing activity in 2000, thus being the oldest Italian Formula SAE team. During these year of activity we reached many interesting results, especially in the first part of our history. The team is always focusing its attention on innovation and on students formation, researching and developing new and intelligent solutions for the car we build. The core of the team is, naturally, located in the mechanical engineering department, but we have students from the main faculty of the university. Every year, a new car is designed and, according to available funds, built. Thanks to the precious help and assistance of our sponsors we managed to build seven cars and to compete several times in some of the main events all over the world, including Formula SAE West in California. As the project involves many aspects of a race car, including marketing and business strategies, the activity is perfect for all the students with some passion for engines and motorsport, or for that one that would love having a real experience in a team and would like to face real problems with a practical activity.

Thanks to the support of FRT in 2005 ATA (Automotive Techincal Association) managed to import to Italy an official Formula SAE event, effectively starting a new era of SAE teams in our country, as many universities started their activity and give birth to many new teams. As the level of our rivals is quickly raising we need to evolve and deal with new fields of study, always trying to have more HP and less kg!
